Joan Rivers Failed Me

Sorry for the silence the past two days. My third and final substitute blogger failed to get me anything to post (no hard feelings).

When I came back to the office, I found out my computer had been crashed by a nasty malware virus. It’s still down and being worked over by the OPUBCO tech guys.  I’m still trying to get caught up after my mini-vacation, so I don’t have much to post on right now. I’ll try to get some fresh material up later today.

Speaking of fresh material…Steve, have you heard of the Sound Bites venue being offered by Downtown Oklahoma City, Inc.? Every Friday at lunchtime from now through the summer they are offering live music at the Kerr Park amphitheater. Looks like an interesting slate of artists/bands.

I happened to catch it today while I was running errands downtown. I heard the music from a distance and meandered over to check it out. In the short time I was there the crowd grew quite a bit. It’s almost like the music was beckoning people in from all over. I could feel a buzz in the air! The feeling of community and vibrant street life gave me a glimpse of downtown OKC’s potential future.

I was mistaken, SoundBites is at Couch Park…adjacent to Kerr Park.

I’m just now getting caught up with email and just realized it started today. I’ll do a feature on it next week. If anyone got photos today, please email me a copy!

Steve, if we have questions regarding your video blog, where do we post those at?

Maybe Joan was getting another round of plastic surgery. Or maybe she (he) was busy making boats go around in a circle. Sorry to let you and your readers down Steve. I promise to write a contribution worthy of okccentral.com very soon, which you can use (or not use) at your convenience.

For what it’s worth I talked with several people who (like me) thought the guest blogger idea was a great one, and enjoyed the contributions of the folks who DIDN’T let you down.

It’s not as if I were outing you on this one… only three of us knew you were the third guest blogger. If you were anybody else I’d be making sure I hadn’t offended you. But I’m not so worried about you (yeah, I take you for granted!)
Gary, feel free to send questions about videos to my email at slackmeyer@oklahoman.com. I think in the future I’ll create a post to discuss the videos to allow for such questions and discussions in the future.
Final question for everybody: would you like to see me start to include guest bloggers on a regular basis? It would be by invite only…

Guest bloggers is a great idea as long as it doesn’t mean you posting less, Steve. More quality content is always welcome.

While hanging out in the general vicinity, some guy that looked just like the Flaming Lips guy walked by. The singers on stage seemed to recognize him as well. You never know who you might run into.

Is it possible that Wayne Coyne stopped by Soundbites in the Park? Of course it is. Wayne is a part of this community.
