Don't Mess With Santa, the Martians or the Lips

Looks like the very liberal MSNBC is casting the Oklahoma Republican Party, and not Oklahoma as a whole, as the bad guys on this whole Flaming Lips matter:

Meanwhile, Wayne Coyne seems to having the last laugh:

This story amazes me more and more everyday. Way to represent the people that elected you. They voted the song down because one of the band members were a hammer and sickle and they don’t promote that…I tweeted this earlier, “I bet the OK House would vote that Van Gogh wasn’t a good artist strictly b/c he cut his ear off and they don’t promote that.”

Thanks for the videos … I’m lovin’ it.

I guess the ruling of the legislators proves that I’m almost the only conservative in the world who is majorly obsessed with Wayne Coyne and the Lips and their message of optimism and Oklahoma creativity. Also, who is weirdly intrigued by the Rachel Maddow Show despite her fiery liberalism.

The state legislature never ceases to amaze me. I heard that nearly everyone who attended the Norman Music Festival this past weekend wore the same cycle/hammer t-shirt. Anyone have a pic?

Steven: I wouldn’t say nearly everyone. There were a couple dozen t-shirts visible, but far from “nearly everyone”.

I’m thrilled at how this all worked out. The Governor and everyone who worked this out despite the silliness deserve applause. If they’re going after the Flaming Lips, the legislature must be running out of people to demonize – maybe that’s a good sign in and of itself.

I wonder what Mary FAllin’s response to this? Supporting Flaming Lips may run against her “faith, family and freedom” campaign theme.

Thank goodness nobody was trying to honor Woody Guthrie. The man was a self-proclaimed member of the actual Communist party. He wrote columns for “The Daily Worker,” fercryinoutloud.

This is one of the silliest “controversies” I’ve ever seen. The photos posted on thelostogle.com of the “aginners” chumming it up with the Lips last month, apparently before they realized they were (or were instructed to be) offended by Michael’s shirt, are classic. Good job, Governor (and Senate, by the way), and congratulations, Lips.

Hmmm. If MSNBC is “very liberal,” that must mean Fox News is “moderately conservative.” Don’t think so.

In the Wayne Coyne reacts video, I’m the girl with the rainbow scarf!
