The City Attorneys and Code Enforcement Score a Homerun in MidTown

Last summer I addressed a post to city planning staff and asked a one-word, obvious question: “why?”

This virtual junkyard had scrapped cars at the prominent corner of NW 10 and Harvey for years.

This virtual junkyard had scrapped cars at the prominent corner of NW 10 and Harvey for years.

They answered back:

Two citations have been issued for the property at 302 NW 10th -. Case # 06-4483326, for improper storage of vehicles in a C-CBDF zoning district went to court on September 5, 2008, the case was continued until October 17, 2008.  Case # 04-026511X , the defendant entered a plea of no contest and was fined $277.00. The Chief Zoning Inspector is talking with the Municipal Counselor’s office about issuing additional citations.

Now we know their efforts paid off.

Okay, I’ll ask the obvious question: Why hasn’t the city does this in Bricktown?

Way to stay on this Steve. Glad it finally got done. Is there actually any type of business operating there?

Great job. Why doesn’t city staff enforce more situations like this, as well as sign code? There are horrific examples of hand-painted signage on major street that these folks must drive by everyday. It’s not a personnel problem. They don’t have to go out of their way to do something about it. Just like your example. I guarantee this was no big secret. It’s a shame that someone has to gripe to the city for them to just do their job. Great job Steve. Love your blog.
