The Flaming Lips have been a a big supporter of downtown and the innercity. They embraced this town long before it embraced them. I’m confused why even their most ardent supporters would put up a resolution in their honor them if it’s going to fail?

Well Michael, what are you going to do about it? Are you going to hold your representative accountable? Do you, or the other readers, know who their representative is? Are you going to get active in supporting who you want at the Capitol?
Jason Nelson is my representative also. Ridiculous. The District he represents is not overly conservative. I assume he vote against stem cells as well???

Good point, Steve. We get the leadership we allow collectively. My rep is Bill Nations…I’ll find out how he voted.
People need to call the offices of these guys and make sure they are aware of your displeasure with the way they’re behaving. The only way to address this mindset is to let them know they will be held accountable and to vote against them in the next election.

Sad on many levels. We seem to have an overabudance of political leadership in Oklahoma whose parochialism and cultural illiteracy very nearly ecilpses their profound stupidity.
No room for even a fun, symbolic gesture. No siree, not here. Party like it’s 1951 guys. The rest of the country is really going to leave us in the dust at some point if there’s no space in Oklahoma for anything beyond the very narrow Victorian boundaries to which many would persist in confining us.
