Twitter – Who's Out There
I’m still skeptical about the long-term for Twitter, but there is no denying it’s a useful way to learn who is out there following the blog. And for OKC Central, the answer is, refreshingly, a broad mix that spans generations and backgrounds. It’s especially thrilling to find out they include a high school student who is an aspiring filmmaker and other younger readers.
As an aside to all this, I’ll be up and running some more blog posts today. I’ve been out of the office the past couple days, taking care of a toddler with a stomach bug. And yeah, that can be kind of distracting.
In the meantime, my best friend and co-author, Jack Money, is no longer with The Oklahoman but he’s still out there writing. He has a great post on the history of downtown’s one-way streets at our private website, www.okchistory.com. What Jack discovered is that the city has been going back and forth on one-way strets a lot longer than one might guess.
Have a great day and watch the weather – the latest report indicates snow and ice might come in before the drive home.

Finding out I was correct; Twitter gets corrupted with spammers and it soon fades into a has-been like My Space. ![]()
(You didn’t think it would be that easy, did you?)
I’m the bridge between all of those people who are out there with iphones and blackberries constantly tapping out messages and the old cranky guys yelling “get off my lawn you punks!”
I just checked http://www.okchistory.com for the first time. I think it’s great. I watched some of the HoHo videos and remembered I have home videos of HoHo at my older brother’s birthday party; I was 3 he was turning 7. HoHo was great.
Step two for everyone will be whatever the Twitter business model on the horizon brings us. It will either take Twitter to a whole new level or break it.
BTW – How about giving @freshpeel a follow. Promise not to spam you when the corruption starts.
Chris, you know for the first couple weeks I was only following Darth Vader! Now, if you’re looking for someone with true leadership qualities…
Casey, if you’re ever interested, I’d love to post a clip from that home video at the site – especially if any of it has Mayor Mick and Ho Ho together. Email me and let’s talk.
Is Ho Ho that clown at the State Fair who makes fun of people when they walk by so you’ll try to sink him at the dunk tank?
OK. Just checked it out, and I couldn’t have been more wrong about who Ho Ho is. Thanks for the http://www.okchistory.com tip @freshpeel
That’s cool, Rob. See now, by visiting OKC History, you can get caught up on childhood memories and not be left out of the loop!
Other things to “remember”: Shotgun Sam’s Pizza, Springlake Amusement Park, Molly Murphy’s House of Fine Repute, Soundtrack, the Western Avenue graffiti bridge, the Split T, and an obscure football coach named Barry Switzer.
I do remember Molly Murphy’s and T-Bar (too well), and I’ll do my homework on the rest. Who’s this Switzer fellow? (If Larry McAlester is reading this, I’m kidding. No disrespect to The King).

Step one in the transformation complete: Steve has learned that Twitter can show him more clearly who his blog’s core audience is, and he is learning more about those individuals’ lives.
What do you think step two will be?
