Please Be Respectful
I’m increasingly uncomfortable with the tone of some visitors’ comments on some of these posts. Criticize my thoughts, my writings, my observations – I’m ok with that. I don’t know everything, my wife will be quick to tell you I’m not perfect, and I need you the readers to provide the rest of the story.
But please do not insult fellow visitors who comment by calling them ignorant, stupid, etc. Debate and discussion are good and really are key to this blog’s success. Disagree with each other – challenge each other. But this is not the place to dismiss everyone who disagrees with you as being stupid or ignorant.
Several months ago I had to suspend comments and yank others when some visitors thought it was ok to personally attack college students whose ideas for a new convention center were posted on this site. I hated the experience and I don’t want to do it again.

Thank you for joining our conversation on OKC Central. We encourage your discussion but ask that you stay within the bounds of our commenting and posting policy.
Comments
For the most part, everyone has been great. I’ve just noticed some problems creep in the past couple days. I’m not singling anyone out. But if you notice that a slur or insult got stripped out of one of your comments, yep, that was me working the dashboard.

The main thing I notice in the comments is people acting like holier-than-thou know-it-alls. I think sometimes it is easy to forget that we are all in this together and we all have a stake in seeing OKC prosper. Being dismissive of other people’s opinions is not a good strategy.
Some people are really overbearing in their conspiracy assumptions. If you’re not with us you’re not just against us, you’re OCURA.. and you don’t wanna be that.

Thanks Steve for pointing this out. I was afraid the blog comments were devolving into what the comments section on the main articles has become (Has anyone bothered to read a comment section on any OKC Thunder article anymore? What an anti-Oklahoma hate fest.) This is a great blog to find out what is happening around OKC before almost anyone else and the comments generally had even more useful information or at least challenging ideas…until recently. You may want to set this blog post to repeat at least once a month to remind everyone to keep things civil. Keep up the great work though and hopefully the recent comments haven’t driven anyone away from posting their thoughts, they can be very thought provoking and informative.
