I don’t see how the old Lincoln Plaza Hotel is “competition”. I don’t think the school would even want or have a vision for that area. They know part of their appeal is the urban environment and easy walkability to major attractions and music venues. I don’t even see this as a discussion, but you must know something I don’t….

I could see it as a possible location. I’d imagine it would be cheaper to locate there than it would be at film row. But that’s just a guess. In any event, the Lincoln Plaza Hotel is not inspiring in the least.

My father-in-law used to work in that building. I think it would be a good place long term, but I think keeping a presence in BT is very important. That is the epicenter of entertainment for OKC.

I could have sworn I once saw something fairly recently about the Lincoln Plaza possibly being renovated? Am I mistaken?

No, you’re not mistaken. There was an article about a year ago (I think) that talked about a former banker, last name Parrish, who was trying to rennovate the Lincoln Plaza property on his own.

Everyone knows the Lincoln Plaza has changed hands numberous times in the past 3 decades. In fact, I remember having my Senior Prom in what was the Stars Lounge.

The property is an old money pit. Although it is close to the State Capitol, and the Adventure District, there is nothing within walking distance. And the service was poor at best.

Lobbyists used to schmooze Legislators at the Lincoln Plaza. Today the schmoozing is likely being done Downtown.

The biuldings should be demolished, in favor of a State-owned office plaza, for State agencies and boards to use. How much rent would be saved by getting them out of Shepherd Mall and putting them in State-owned property?

Yes, they were actually advertising the reopened hotel in this year’s Oklahoma Travel Guide magazine, or maybe it was the OKC one. I posted it somewhere on OKCTalk.

The Lincoln building would be a horrendous mistake. The Fred Jones building is light years better, architecturally and asthetically. Hopefully those involved can see the obvious.

Better late than never…. so my father and I were driving on the Broadway Extension the other day and I saw from the highway as to what look liked a large red brick building – I asked my dad if he knew what it was and he didn’t know, so we decided to drive over and find out for ourselves.

We exited 8th St. by the OU Health Science Center area and took 8th St. east to Stonewall and Stonewall over to 5th St. and there was an old dilapidated school building. The sign out front said the Page Woodson School. And I am not sure if the land is for sale or if it is now too close to the Health Science area and they bought it up {?} but I think it could make a great space for the new school of contemporary music.

I don’t know anything about this old school but when I saw it I did think about the new music school coming into town. And I thought the location was interesting. Obviously not that big of a deal, but I just thought I would throw that out as an idea as well.
