Especially with a young team, coaching style matters. The players were obviously making a statement they didn't want to play for PJ. I'm sure he's a good coach, but just not for this team. I hope they continue to play with some heart and take the energy of this city with them. They have the chance to have one of the best fan bases in the league, but not if they don't at least try.

Dan,

There was an article in the DOK after PJ was fired stating that the players didn't feel it was his fault, it was more of the players fault. The very next day, one of the players said he liked Brooks' coaching style a lot better. He said he was a little more relaxed and telling them when they are doing things right and things they could improve on as opposed to PJ who was really intense and yelled a lot, never really complimenting them.

I think the team is missing some veteran leadership that knows how to win. We need a veteran point guard like Nash. I know the Hornets didn't have a veteran point guard but Chris Paul played like one.

Yeah, I don't know whether the new coach lit a fire under their butts, or what, but I've been to all the home games, and this was by far the most inspired play.

It was, of course, maddening and unconscionable that they couldn't foul anyone with 9 seconds left, and you could tell they were just outclassed by a superior team in the fourth quarter (Nash is just too good), but at least they played with heart, and weren't completely stupid with the turnovers like they have been.

Overall, despite the loss, it was a good night. They will grow on the city if they keep playing like that.

The game last nite was a blast to be at. Even with the loss, the energy and competitiveness displayed by the Thunder is something to build on.

Humble opinion.

Yep. Great game. Great crowd. Felt like old times. AND (see my comment in a couple of your posts below) ... Kyle Weaver greeted the crowd on the arena floor before the game. While he was a bit shy/subdued and wasn't center court, I think that was good and that it should happen every game. Great and easy way to contact the team with the fans.

Maybe PBC is catching on. Okc's average home attendance through 9 games is 18,620. The 2-prior-season average through 9 games was 18,445.

Clara Luper being honored was great, too.
