I agree the name “Cottage District” doesn’t fit, given the direction it has taken since the (jaw dropping) residence of Brian Fitzsimmons began drawing other modern architecture enthusiasts. How cool that the Lovallo project got approved, it’s exciting that Midtown is getting another architectural icon to fuel the progress. Can’t wait to hear more about this one! Anyone seen designs?
The more I think about it, the more I like the name “Cottage District”, mainly because that is exactly the opposite of the neighborhood.
There might be an image of the Lovallo residence posted soon on the “Projects” page of FreeSosa.com.
It’s the Over the Line House (link below to the Fitzsimmons Architects Web site)…

Steve,
No offense, but that’s not an “interesting link the the whole debate”, nor half of the debate. That link just talks about the Lovallo residence getting approved through design commission this week.
The whole SoSA naming and forming an organization issue is a much broader subject. The City has officially referred to the unofficial district as the Cottage District. As you might know, the Cottage District isn’t really fitting to the look and future look of the neighborhood. It has been a dilapidated area for years and now young creative class entrepreneurs are moving into the area with modern designs, etc. We have a chance to really make this a premiere downtown district and the name/organization of the area should really reflect the direction the neighborhood is taking.
