My Office
Uncommon Grounds, Bricktown. Far better coffee than what’s available in the newsroom, and on an average day I see at least 3-4 contacts come through the doors, often with good story tips. In my 18 years at The Oklahoman, I’ve yet to see news actually occur in the newsroom.
I have everything I need – a computer, a good wireless connection, phone and an ample supply of caffeine.

Dude, you had so much caffeine you forgot how to spell it! I’ve heard about papers that confine their reporters to the newsroom all the time. I would hope the Oklahoman doesn’t do that! Newspapers are losing appeal as it is these days. There is actually stuff going on outside in the world and most of us want to know what it is firsthand! Keep up the good work, Steve!
News doesn’t happen in the “newsroom”. So it would make sense to position yourself where news happens. Can’t beat a good coffee shop!
