The new Chamber HQ and NW 4 and Broadway
A lot of the discussion today at www.okctalk.com is about the proposed new headquarters for the Greater Oklahoma City Chamber. And one idea mentioned, that I’ve not heard mentioned to date, is intriguing – why not create a grand traffic circle at NW 4, Broadway and E.K. Gaylord?
I suspect I know the answer. But I’ll let others debate the matter.

I LOVE circles! I purposely drive out of my way to the one at 10th (I can’t wait til the construction at that end of the street is done so my driving through the circle is more rational)
Maybe it reminds me of Europe? I think there should be an abundance of circles in OKC.
I like traffic circles, except I think the powers-that-be are trying to make downtown less catered to cars and more accessible to people on foot, bicycles, or some sort of mass transit. That area at 4th and E.K. Gaylord provides a fabulous cityscape view that is much better appreciated outside of a car.
That’s exactly why the urban developers prefer designs that run right up close to the street, rather than set back away from the people.
I, personally, love traffic circles — even though they are a relatively new thing to me. I see them popping up all over back home in Kansas City, where I grew up.
However, I do not want to encounter a somewhat intoxicated driver coming out of BT who suddenly happens upon a traffic circle. I have not spent enough late nights in MidTown to see what happens at the one on Walker; but I think being over-served and navigating a traffic circle may pose as a problem.

Yes. Great idea.
