A lot of you have expressed confusion about the old city plan to extend the Bricktown Canal. So here, without further delay, is what was on the drawing boards as recently as a few years ago:

Interesting. I rather enjoy where they have the canal extension. Looking at the overhead I actually envisioned an artificial cascading waterfall of some sort just to the south of where the canal turns north on the west side of the BNSF elevated tracks. It’d just be something nice to put in place of that long parking lot and another beautifully constructed view of the canal for people to see without actually going in to Bricktown–not to mention, a nice view if you’re staying at the hotel across the way.
Also something of interest is how they would reroute rail traffic if they had to have another underpass put beneath their route. It’s easy to reroute it down where they’re putting in I40 because there was enough space to redirect. In downtown, there’s nowhere to go unless they put all traffic down to one rail…

So would the street between the Ford and the Cox be taken out and the canal there instead or would the road run over the canal a little? Also, is the proposed expressway the “Boulevard” we talk about or something else?
