Who isn't to say the city won't use the proceeds from the sale of the west garage to build a new garage in the central business district? Also, one other detail to consider when it comes to the question of reducing the supply of spaces at City Center Garage - Devon has several floors leased at Oklahoma Tower, and those folks are almost certainly parking in the east City Center garage, which is typically more full than the west garage. So when this is all done, consider there will be more spaces available in the east garage. Also, there are a lot of people working along Park Avenue who park at City Center because Santa Fe is filled with Devon employees.
I'll be watching all of this very closely. Clearly, downtown is about to be restructured, and yes, there could be some growing pains.

I don't see Devon embracing the people and making their future home a great place for them to be. Their future neighbors will no longer be able to park at the City Center Garage where they are currently parking. There have been too many years where most employees in the vicinity have had to walk in all kinds of weather from a parking garage to their place of work and having to take extra time out of their day to do so.

I am not against Devon building their building at all. But, they should consider the people that are already parking at City Center Garage and incorporate in their plans enough parking for the people already parking there. The 2.5 acre park could actually be more parking instead if Devon wants to be neighborly.

Sounds like HR needs to grow up and quit calling Oklahomans stupid. We are all blogging to get out our frustrations and also to make a point at the same time. I know that Devon could step up to the plate and make some changes in their plans to accomodate the current parkers.
This is a time to work together and share ideas and not be name calling.

Grow Up? How about get a clue “HR”. People have been complaining about the parking situation downtown for years. The city finally builds a beautiful five story parking garage near the library, court house, Cox Center, gardens, Ford Center, etc. and now they want to sell it to Devon. Great for Devon, bad for everyone else. I for one am very excited about Devon building the new tower, I just want to know what the cities plans are for the reduced parking and I hope their not talking about something south of I-44.

There may be plenty of parking space to go around for everyone, but that doesn't mean that it will be close to our offices. Our company just moved into a building near the City Center parking garage and we all park there now. Why should we have to move to a parking garage at least a block away so Devon employees can all be close to their building?

I think it’s great that Devon is doing this but it would be nice if they would have build their own parking garage. When is the city going to announce what their plans are for the people that park there now?
