I don't know too much about him, but the status of Bricktown concerns me. There are too many empty buildings down there in prime locations. What gives?

I think he is deserving of a memorial, such as a statue, also. Something inscribed with "Mayor of Bricktown." I don't know about the "original" mayor of Bricktown- that might be Neal Horton- but certainly he deserves to be remembered as a key player in the birth of Bricktown.

What an excellent post and interview, Steve. Sometimes we (me included) get too wrapped up in "the things" and don't think that much about "the person." You did good.

People can choose how they want to remember Jim and I believe they should remember him for all the good things he did to make Bricktown what it is today. It happens often in the business world where the best guy to get a startup going is not necessarily the guy you want running a Fortune 500 company. Mr. Brewer had just the mix of business acumen, showmanship, and drive needed to get Bricktown to the point that it became the major focus of MAPS and the rest is history. Perhaps he hasn't handled the post-MAPS period as well as people would like, but his early contributions far outweigh anything negative he might have done lately. IMO he deserves a statue and should be able to see it while he is alive! He will always be remembered as the original "Mayor of Bricktown!"
