I cannot believe that people would actually vote to tear them down and then basically replace them with wide open usless plazas. Maybe tear them down and leave those lots open for skyscraper construction, but for a plaza? Thats ignorant. I like the denseness of our downtown, lets not ruin that. I hope they do not tear them down to replace htem with nothing.
I voted for the tear down because from what I have read it would be really difficult to convert them to a different/better use…maybe a plaza isnt the answer, but not everything is worth keeping…
The oldest building in downtown, if we can remove that ugly facade, is absolutely worth saving at whatever cost, and I had imagined that someone civic minded like Mr. Ward would realize that.
But I do agree that if these are to be torn down for a higher and better use, it should happen- if they are to be torn down for a plaza, it shouldn’t happen.
