I still think the major players in Bricktown (i.e. Randy Hogan and Jim Brewer) are not visionaries, but rather developers who saw an opportunity to make a quick and easy buck and had the money to jump on the opportunity. Lower Bricktown is a joke and belongs on Memorial Road. The embarrassment of barely using any brick and the back sides of the theater and other buildings as well as the sea of parking that will soon face our grand new boulevard is appalling. These guys are out to make a quick buck and don't care about the better good of the city and it's so obvious. The canal space has sat almost empty for a decade now and has FAILED to bring any significant retail. They demand sky-high rents and but the demand doesn't justify it. Look at all the local and national chains that have failed on the canal properties. It also sickens me that these guys get away with boarded up windows and are not utilitzing the upper floors of their buildings, while regular homeowners get cited and fined for having a boarded up window. Take pride in your city folks!!!

The least-intrusive way to do this is to do the following:

1) Resize the photo to fit your template, and save it under another name.

2) Upload both sizes to the site server.

3) Include only the shrunken version in the actual page - but provide a link to the full-sized version, should someone want to see the whole thing in all its glory.

As a test, I ran a shrink on the remaining picture. In its original size, it runs 8,667,410 bytes. Shrunk to 428 x 285, which fits nicely into this screen width, it's 59,236 bytes.

And the photos were nice, but 16 mb is a lot of stuff to put into a single page load. (Yeah, you can reduce the size onscreen, but the browser is going to load the entire document and then fit it in. Someone on a dialup will curse you for the half-hour it takes to load.)
