Dear Mr. Herzberger,
It is a great honor to be singled out for one's writing, but it is I who was afforded the luxury to being shown how to live in pain and with not much hope for the future as I battle my journey, like Mr. Chastain, who had the courage to do it publicly and with grace and humor.
As a long time English teacher, it is only natural for me to quote directly or indirectly Wm. Shakespeare in my closing, as well as my personal belief that the soul flies away, somewhat echoed by Emily Dickinson's poetry.
Not long ago, I had the privilege of meeting a former student at the B B King concert near Norman who noted my writings on Mr. Chastain's blog. This meant the world to me.
To all of Mr. Chastain's family and friends, I wish you peace. Thank you for sharing your precious Jim with me.
