My site loads faster now!

The most consistent comment we’ve heard from the public is that our new Web site is cleaner and easier to navigate. We’re happy to hear that, because that was the ultimate goal of the resedign.

Another consistent comment we’ve heard is about the load time of the site.

Indeed, the site does load faster than our previous version. That is happening because the programming staff and designing staff spent weeks cleaning up and improving code under the covers to make your computer load our site faster. They also configured the servers and placed images on new servers to improve the load time of the site.

I’m no expert on that stuff, but I know when my favorite Web site works well – and this one does. It’s just another example of the development team making things happen behind the scenes to help our news and information shine.

I agree with you completely. I am one of those people that are still using dial up and this new site is 100% better than the last. Great Job.

I beg to differ, it is actually loading slooooower now (about 25% to 50% slower). Status bar is constantly changing back and forth between two locations (loading….). Have to wait sometimes up to a minute for everything to stop loading (no point in trying to scroll and click on a story, because it overshoots and what you think you are clicking on, you aren’t which means you have to hit the “back” button and try again and wait for everything to load again). If the site still had the tab drop-down functionality where you could get to just about any story from any page, it would be less of an issue when you it overshoots. Am on Cox High Speed internet. No other slowdowns in other programs or on other sites (just NewsOK.com since the redesign). Can’t even imagine how bad it would be if I was still using dial-up.
