In one epic story told over five nights the new series, airing later this year on BBC AMERICA and BBC One in the UK, re-joins Captain Jack (John Barrowman), Gwen Cooper (Eve Myles) and Ianto Jones (Gareth David Lloyd) who are still coming to terms with the death of two of their closest friends. Despite their pain, they have a job to do. This time they are faced with their fiercest threat to date – one which throws the future of Torchwood and the entire human race spiralling into danger. They battle against the odds but do they stand a chance of saving mankind? Torchwood is executive produced by Russell T Davies and Julie Gardner. The producer is Peter Bennett (Doctor Who).

”Torchwood” fans can see star Eve Myles and director Euros Lyn at the New York ComicCon. Lyn is the director of the entire third series of Torchwood, an adult-oriented spinoff of “Doctor Who.”

The BBC America program ” Torchwood” follows the adventures of the Torchwood Institute, the beyond-the-government secret organization formed by Queen Victoria that deals with supernatural and alien threats.

” Torchwood” stars John Barrowman as Capt. Jack Harkness and Myles as Gwen Cooper. NYCC con-goers will also get a sneak peek at the third series. See the full release after the break.

BBC AMERICA’s highest rated series, Torchwood, is coming to New York ComicCon 2009 with a sneak peek of the highly anticipated third season, Torchwood: Children of Earth, and a panel session with actor Eve Myles and director Euros Lyn. The Javits Center, location of New York ComicCon, will feature a massive billboard with all-new imagery from the upcoming U.S. premiere season, as well as a teaser running on a jumbotron and monitors inside the building.

On Saturday, February 7, 4:15pm Myles and Lyn make their first U.S. panel appearance. Myles plays police officer turned alien fighter Gwen Cooper and Lyn is the director of the entire third season of Torchwood. He’s previously directed Doctor Who and will direct David Tennant’s final two episodes as the current Doctor.

From creator Russell T Davies (Doctor Who, Queer as Folk), Torchwood: Children of Earth is the new five-part television event to air later this year on BBC AMERICA. It finds the Torchwood team embarking on a single action-packed adventure as they fight for the future of the human race against the fiercest force they have yet encountered.

“Torchwood face their toughest battle to date in this new series,” says Russell T Davies. “This latest threat causes global shockwaves and the team has to fight with everything they’ve got to survive. Viewers are in for a real treat.”

Torchwood has garnered media acclaim including USA Today dubbing it “one of TV’s most entertaining sci-fi romps,” Los Angeles Times calling it “grown-up, dark, energetic” and TV Guide proclaiming, “If John Barrowman’s Capt. Jack Harkness is the head of Torchwood, then Eve Myles’ Gwen Cooper is the heart.”

Fans can catch up on the previous two seasons with BBC Video’s Torchwood: The Complete First Season (Blu-ray/DVD) and Torchwood: The Complete Second Season (DVD) plus both seasons are available for download from iTunes.

Torchwood is part of BBC AMERICA’s Supernatural Saturdays also the home to the hit series Doctor Who, Primeval, Robin Hood and Ashes to Ashes which premieres Saturday, March 7, 9:00 p.m. ET/PT.

Eve Myles, who plays police constable-turned-special Torchwood agent Gwen Cooper, talked about Marsters, and about Season 2.

MATT: What does James Marsters bring to the show?
EVE MYLES: James Marsters is an absolute complete professional. He’s fantastic. What (Jack Hart) brings to Torchwood is … he brings danger and fear. He brings a lot of Jack’s past with him. So it’s very interesting.
And to work with James was wonderful, because he’s a player, a mad player. And what that means is you don’t have to stick to doing the same thing in every take. You can play with one another. And what that does is, it makes you listen to the person you’re talking to, or the person who’s talking to you, more. Because you react in a very natural way to that person, so nothing feels staged. I adored working opposite James Marsters. You’re only as good as the person you work opposite, and he makes you feel like a million dollars to work opposite him.
MATT: How is Season 2 different from Season 1?
EVE MYLES: It’s not majorly different. It’s still Torchwood, we’re not going to change the program, or the premise of the program. It’s still Torchwood. But you’ll have 13 episodes of 13 different stories. One week it’ll make you cry, the next week you’ll fall off your chair laughing. The other week is very sinister and dark, then you’ll get beautiful love stories. You’ve got fabulous new special effects and wonderful monsters. You can expect to see the Weevils back in full force. You’re going to see the characters develop much much more, you’ll find out a lot more about Jack’s past. You’ve got so much to look forward to.

“Torchwood” Season One comes to DVD today. The second season premieres on BBC America on Saturday, Jan. 26. Look for my “Torchwood” DVD review in Friday’s Weekend Look in the Oklahoman. “Torchwood” features the Torchwood Institute, the beyond-the-government secret organization formed by Queen Victoria which deals with supernatural and alien threats. It stars John Barrowman as Captain Jack Harkness and Eve Myles as Gwen Cooper. Also on the team are medical officer Owen Harper (Burn Gorman), computer expert Toshiko Sato (Naoko Mori) and support personnel Ianto Jones (Gareth David-Lloyd).
Here’s a preview of my interview with Eve Myles, who will also be featured in an upcoming Weekend Look. She gets bonus points from me for saying she was very excited to be talking to someone from Oklahoma.
MATT: What was it like getting started with the first season of “Torchwood”?
EVE MYLES: We were all kind of going into unknown territory. We knew that it was coming off of the back, it’s a spinoff of “Doctor Who.” One of the characters from “Doctor Who” was Captain Jack Harkness, so it’s a spinoff with Captain Jack Harkness.

It’s an adult show, and going into it, 13 episodes, we didn’t get 13 scripts straightaway, we got two scripts. We kind of got the start of the flavor of the program.

Everybody was absolutely buzzing and excited and frightened and vulnerable. Everybody worked tremendously hard, all the departments … nothing was segregated, everybody worked very hard to make this project the best project they’d ever worked on.
