Welcome to Nerdage, your source for comics, video game, sci-fi, fantasy, toy and other geekish items! We hope to bring you fresh perspectives on some of the most important news in several pop-culture categories. I’m Matt Price, and I’m the head writer and editor for the blog. While for years, I decried the use of “nerd” for people who were simply into stuff that was cool, I’ve come around. After $800 million in box office receipts for “Spider-Man” and a $170 million launch for “Halo 3,” we’ve won, anyway: Nerd culture is our culture.
My background in the field goes back a ways – I started working at comic book stores in high school, and I’ve owned a Norman-based comic book store for more than a decade.
I have a journalism degree from OU, and, after working at a few other papers, came to the Oklahoman in 2000, where I began writing about comics and video games for the Weekend LOOK section.
Nerdage was honored by the Oklahoma Society of Professional Journalists with second place in the “Best Blog” category for 2007-2008.
