I believe he meant (or said, I’ve replayed it a few times and can’t tell) a “honzon” which as object of respect and/or devotion. Usually it means an object that is part of a Buddhist altar or associated with a daily ritual.

I thought the show as good. There were a couple of things I did not like, but overall it was entertaining and started off a good story. Can’t wait to see the next episode.

I really enjoyed watching the pilot with my friend: we’re
hooked!
In the pilot, Oliver presents his friend with a small stone
with japanese / chineese calligraphy and labels it a
“hozen”- a buddhist object symbolizing reconnecting. Does
anybody know what this is? Or is this possibly a fictional
version of an Omamori Gohonzon?
