I suppose Romita’s Spidey wasn’t exactly a parallel with Garfield, though I felt like in both cases there was a generational shift there.

Both valid comparisons to make, though… Romita’s Spidey certainly followed on the continuity of Ditko’s, whereas Ultimate hems closer to a reboot and reworking of the origin.
