I found the issue boring and that Superman is really showing how dated a construct he is in today's world. Matters aren't helped by some average writing, and DC standing on their soapbox trying to drum up press for an otherwise mediocre issue.

The renouncing his citizen aspect of this issue has garnered quite a bit of attention, which is probably what DC (and those who penned this issue) were going for. It does seem a bit un-Superman-like in the sense that he was initially created as an "American" hero way back when. Of course, this is the world of comics, and Supes certainly hasn't been immune to changes and various incarnations over the years. Plus, I agree with your point about CK being the U.S. citizen, not Superman.
