Mike Grell named editor-in-chief of Ardden Entertainment

Mike Grell was named the new editor-in-chief at Ardden Entertainment, Newsarama reports.  Ardden is planning a revival of the Atlas/Seaboard properties including Wulf (pictured), Phoenix and others.

“After all these years on the other side of the desk, I’m excited to be part of Ardden Entertainment. This is where the action is,” said Grell in a news release quoted at Newsarama.

Jim Krueger (“Earth X”) is a consulting editor at Ardden, which has also published Flash Gordon: Invasion of the Red Sword and Casper and the Spectrals.

Grell recently discussed history in comics at the Austin Comic-Con.

“I was walking in the door at DC when (former ‘Legion’ artist) Dave Cockrum was walking out,” he said.

Grell has some history with the former Atlas/Seaboard – he pitched his “Savage Empire” story to the company in the 1970s prior to tweaking it into the series that became “Warlord.”
