Matt, just came across this post after surfing around reliving some Really Good Times. You are So Right about Mike's Sable run. I read these in high school as they came out and, truth be told, think of them often. Although I haven't read a comic book in many, many years (having moved onto reading novels, then writing one, and admiring movies, then writing screenplays and shooting my first one as we speak), this takes me back to admiration for these artists who were self-contained storytellers in a medium full of highly-talented people. Thank you!

I'd put Mike's "Starslayer" in that list...in place of either the Bond or Legion. Excellent and fun twist on the Warlord concept that ended (well...at least Mike's run on the title) far too soon!

Matt:

Nice list. Your comments on Warlord and Grell's LoSH are spot on. I'm overdue to check out some more Jon Sable, and your review of his James Bond have me adding that to my want list, too!

Cheers,
Andrew
