G.I. Joe rising?
Ticket sales site Fandango.com reports that as of this morning, G.I. Joe: Rise of Cobra makes up 39 percent of the advance ticket sales on the site.
G.I. Joe may be spurred on Fandango by a promo that saves ticket buyers $5 on the tie-in Electronic Arts video game.
Julie and Julia, starring Amy Adams and Meryl Streep, also opens Friday, and was selling the second-most tickets at Fandango as of 9 a.m. Pacific time.

to Mark : for your request, check Star Trek (2009) as a recent example. I really « digged » GI Joe, it’s such an awesome movie. On both cases, I didn’t notice those schemes of courtship as politically correct or not. But I did saw in each a man attracted to a (very) smart woman.
Mark…
Maybe the producers were trying to level the “playing” field because of Battlestar Galactica…there was nothing but white guys having sex with women of color in that series. PC my ass! Why does that bother you in the first place? Seems to me ANY human male would have the hots for Scarlett in that sexy suit! Isn’t that normal?
Lets have some balance or no racial mixing promoting.
Rip cord further was quite aggressive in pursuing
Scarlett. Introduce a truely beautiful black girl,
perhaps of Ethiopian origin, and have the courageous,
world-saving white man court her, do this on a major
motion picture frequently, the rare black beauty with
the white man, and the rare white beauty with the
black man…Equality…Choice…End Affirmative Action Now
I feel bad for the actress who played Scarlett who was forced to pretend she had a thing for that black guy. At least it was only a kiss and no more than that but I swear it will be worse in GI Joe 2. You could see there was no chemistry, it felt completed forced and I’m sick of seeing them promote black guys and white girls together in movies. It pisses off not only white guys but also black women. It was just so unnecessary.

GI JOE is a great movie.
Only thing was the mandatory PC dig of having the
black guy wanting the white girl (Ripcord and Scarlett)
Seems like that is always the way. Why not make more films
that show the white guy with a black girl?? But I guess
thats not on the agenda. It’s easier to promote the cool
black guy going after the white girl,
other than the PC crap GI JOE is a cool movie.
