Natalie Portman joins cast of Thor
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Natalie Portman has signed on for the Marvel motion picture Thor, in the role of the female lead, Jane Foster.
In early “Thor” comic books, Jane Foster was a nurse who became the love interest of Thor, and who worked with his alter ego, Donald Blake. The planned “Thor” movie is scheduled to begin filming in early 2010 and be released on May 20, 2011. Chris Hemsworth (“Star Trek”) has been cast as Thor; Tom Hiddleston is set to play the villain, Loki.
Portman is no stranger to the comic-book crowd, having played the lead in “V for Vendetta,” based on the Alan Moore graphic novel. She’s also known to genre fans for her role as Queen Amidala in the “Star Wars” prequels.
