Movie viewers want He-Man

he-man

According to the weekly MovieTickets.com poll, movie viewers want to see “He-Man and the Masters of the Universe” come to the big screen.

This summer is toy-heavy, with films based on action figure lines G.I. Joe and Transformers. Movietickets.com asked their users which 1980s property they would like to see next.

He-Man led the respondents with 58 percent of the vote.  M.A.S.K. (that’s Mobile Armored Strike … Kommand) finished second with 15 percent.  Rounding out the top five were She-Ra with 12 percent, Jem with 8 percent, and Dino-Riders with 7 percent.  Total votes cast were 4,595.

What, no Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors?  How about Pole Position?  What 1980s property would you most like to see come to film?

I think a He-Man movie would be a train wreck like I think the G.I. Joe movie will be. I would rather see a Voltron movie.

Wonder who would play He-Man? Arnold? Gerard Butler would be awesome…

The movie studios are a handful of years late when it comes to cashing in on re-released 80’s toy brands. Anyone who seriously identifies with the likes of He-man and G.I. Joe is closer to the 30-something age range instead of the more lucrative early 20’s spenders. Of course Skeletor and Co. have been tied up in licensing issues forever, so that explains part of it.

Jayce and the Wheeled Warriors would be awesome as well as something like Starcomm or Dino Riders – properties from my childhood but not ones with a massive amount of debth, characterization, and consequently, rose-tinted emotional attachment.

I’m curious to see in 20 or so years time what current brands make a return. Will High School Musical have a re-make? Wiill Hannah Montana have a cult following? We’ll see!

[WORDPRESS HASHCASH] The poster sent us ‘0 which is not a hashcash value.

Last I heard, there is a new Masters of the Universe script floating around Hollywood now and the film’s listed as “in production”.

However, if the script’s anything like I’ve heard, I don’t want it to be made…EVER!

Google it. It’s the one about Prince Adam, soldier in Eternia’s Army, vs Skeletor’s technological minions bent on destroying all Magic. (The guy with the floating skull for a head wants to kill magic. Really?) Sad but true.

Anything would be better than the He-Man and the Masters of the Universe movie that was in theaters in the 80’s starring Dolph Lundgren.

I’d much rather see The Herculoids be brought to the big screen. The effects can be done now and it would be fantastic to see!

i agree with wayne. i think a Heculoids movie is overdue and will be a big hit on the big screen. i think Peter Jackson should direct the movie.
