Lost: Dead is Dead
Since George Lang mysteriously vanished, perhaps back in time to 1977, I’ll just share a few of my thoughts on last week’s “Dead is Dead” episode of “Lost” before that gets too far in the distant past. George will return, if the Island wills it, and you readers should see another Staticblog-Nerdage team-up before long.
Charles vs. Ben: It was exciting to see the origins of the Charles Widmore-Ben Linus rift, but it left me with additional questions: How was Widmore able to go back and forth to the Island for years, even having a relationship and child, and then, once he’s excommunicated, he can no longer find it? How, then, is Ben able to run off and on the Island?
Jacob: Who the heck is Jacob? I thought it might be Jack’s dad, but now I’m not sure who it is again. Why in the world did Ben think Widmore’s mercenaries wouldn’t kill Alex? From everything we learned in this episode, it seemed pretty likely that Widmore always wanted her dead. So leaving her fate in the hands of the mercenaries seems even more callous, now.
”What lies in the shadow of the statue?” Who the heck are these Ajira castaways? It appears they aren’t all that they seem, either. And what DOES lie in the shadow of the statue, and how do they know about it?
What are your thoughts?

I think the Ajira Airways folks freaked out after Caesar got shot, found the information that was in his pack, read through it, and started fighting about what is what on the maps. It’s Lord of the Flies with the Ajira castaways, and Frank walked into a baaaad situation.
Good comments, thanks you guys!
Cody, I like your Atlantis theory, whether it pans out or not.
Vaneta, that’s also a good thought on the Ajira folks. “Lord of the Flies” with the castaways could become pretty messy.

Charles used the sub, same as Ben did. Same as Horace and Richard and Juliet… And barring that, we know there are other ways to get off the island: Ben teleported through time/space to the desert, and we know they sent Polar Bears through as well.
You have to know how to find the island, a certain set of coordinates. It’s what Ben gave to Michael waaaay back… I would imagine Charles, as leader, used the sub but never took time to figure out how to get back.
Jacob is someone we haven’t seen yet, I bet. Maybe it’s Faraday, having kept time-traveling?
I think Christian Shepherd is alive and well, just like Locke is. Both crashed dead; awoke alive. Remember, Jack saw Christian a lot after the crash, and NEVER found the body.
Well, we know one is a bounty hunter hired to get Sayid. I think they’re working for Charles.
Also, again, I think the island is Atlantis. Egyptian ruins… and there’s the theory that Egypt was founded by castaways from Atlantis.
