Ugh, can’t remember the character’s “call sign” but I do know it is from Top Gun. Maverick’s superior tells him this pretty early on in the movie. It was the same guy who played the principal in the Back to the Future movies, but I’m not going to come up with his name in Top Gun. Leave it to someone else to fill in my blank on this one…..so many names in my head (Viper, Goose, Slider, Iceman, Jester, Merlin, Hollywood) …none right.

Stinger! Played by James Tolkan, he was the Commander on the Enterprise.

That is correct. I realized I hadn’t officially called it. Stinger in “Top Gun.”
