Comics shipping 10-29-08
Mike Mignola returns to write and draw Hellboy, and Geoff Johns shares with us the Rage of the Red Lanterns. Nova continues to be entangled in “Secret Invasion,” Todd McFarlane returns to “Spawn,” and the complete Ben Edlund “Tick” is released in trade paperback. Complete list and commentary after the break.
AMAZING SPIDER-MAN #575
Spider-Man now comes out three times a month – and apparently twice this week, as the annual ships below. But in this issue, Joe Kelly comes on board with artist Chris Bachalo. These are both guys who used to be strongly among my favorites, who I haven’t seen as much from lately. Certainly “Amazing Spider-Man” is a pretty prominent assignment. This issue features Hammerhead as Mr. Negative’s newest enforcer.

I got a stern talking to last night about FC, by He Who Shall Not Be Named.
But I maintain that the tie ins are far superior, and actually seem to be telling a coherent story, whereas FC seems to happen outside of every other main DC title.
The opposite end of that is SI, which happens in 47 marvel titles a month.
And I buy them all. Because I a sad.

I gotta say, art wise, the Chris Bachalo three parter written by Zeb Wells earlier this year in Amazing was nothing short of, well, amazing. Some of the best Bachalo art I’ve seen since… Generation X. The snow, Spidey, Wolverine… and Spidey fighting the villain ACROSS PANELS… in a very cool way.
I dig Amazing. Twice in one week? Not so amazing.
I gave up on Project: Superpowers, I’m afraid…..
Lots of good stuff this week. I agree, Geoff’s tie ins have been better than the main FC itself. In fact, I am not really digging FC at all….
Am I alone?
