Nearly all teens play video games

Although the conventional wisdom has long been that most teens play video games, the most comprehensive study yet of the behavior, by the Pew Internet Project, shows that 97% of teens 12-17 play computer, web, portable or console games.

The full report is worth checking out. On the negative side, it indicates that teens do tend to play games that are aimed at a higher age level.   On the positive side, playing video games, even frequently, had no negative effect on political or civic involvement.   The report doesn’t classify the behavior as “good” or “bad,” per se, but it’s full of information.  Perhaps the most pertinent information is just how ubiquitous gaming has become.
