If you go back and watch Spidey 3, you can see how much is dedicated to the continuing development between Peter, Mary Jane and Harry and the introduction of Sandman but the whole Venom premise seems just added in. They could have pulled the story of Spidey getting a bit of an ego without adding in the alien costume and we still would have had an excellent film. One less character, and the ending wouldn't have been so convoluted. My two cents anyhow. I know there are plenty of Venom fans out there who would probably disagree. Now, Spider-Man 2, that's still a classic for the ages. I'm obviously going to see whatever comes next.
