ComicsPRO meeting: Early buzz

LAS VEGAS — While most retailers at the meeting agreed that the first two months of 2008 had not been ideal, most were looking forward to upcoming projects to help 2008’s numbers.

“Secret Invasion” from Marvel and “Final Crisis” from DC were mentioned as upcoming major series expected to drive a lot of sales.   One retailer pegged “Secret Invasion” as likely to exceed the numbers of Marvel’s “World War Hulk” crossover, but didn’t expect it to surpass “Civil War.”

Joss Whedon fans are seeing something of a golden age of their favorite’s work in comics.  “Angel: After the Fall,” “Buffy: Season Eight” and “Serenity: Better Days” were all mentioned by retailers as sales successes.
