Activision sponsors Rock & Roll Hall of Fame
“Guitar Hero” publishers Activision have taken on a new role in music – sponsors of The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum.
The game publisher will support the museum’s efforts to collect, preserve and interpret the global impact of rock and roll music. Visitors will also be able to demo “Guitar Hero” in the Hall itself, as well.
Activision will sponsor the Cleveland rock museum’s exhibit on real guitar heroes — Johnny Cash, Kurt Cobain, Jerry Garcia, Robbie Robertson and others. Activision will be an official sponsor of the 2008 Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony to be held on March 10 in New York City at the Waldorf Astoria.
“We’re incredibly excited about this partnership,” said Steve Dobo, Director of Sponsorships for the Rock Hall, in a release. “Activision’s support not only helps us tell the guitar chapter of the rock and roll story, but it also gives our visitors a chance to step onto the virtual stage and kick out some jams while they’re here.”
A spokesman for Activision agreed that visitors would enjoy trying out Guitar Hero while in the honorary home of many a guitar hero.
“Where there’s music, there’s Guitar Hero, and there are countless Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees who’ve appeared in Guitar Hero,” said Dusty Welch, Head of Publishing for Activision/RedOctane, in a release. “We are absolutely thrilled by the opportunity to offer visitors a chance to live out their fantasies by playing tracks from the artists they are paying homage to.”
