Comics, videogames, toys and more – Nerdage.

Welcome to Nerdage, your source for comics, video game, sci-fi, fantasy, toy and other geekish items!   We hope to bring you fresh perspectives on some of the most important news in several pop-culture categories.  I’m Matt Price, and I’m the head writer for the blog; I’ll be joined initially by Greg Elwell, who conducts the comics podcast on NewsOK.com with me.While for years, I decried the use of “nerd” for people who were simply into stuff that was cool, I’ve come around.  After $800 million in box office receipts for “Spider-Man” and a $170 million launch for “Halo 3,” we’ve won, anyway:  Nerd culture is our culture.

My background in the field goes back a ways — I started working at comic book stores in high school, and I’ve owned a Norman-based comic book store for nearly a decade.

I have a journalism degree from OU, and, after working at a few other papers, came to the Oklahoman in 2000, where I began writing about comics and video games for the Weekend LOOK section.

Greg and I started the comics podcast earlier this year, and we hope to combine and expand our nerd-based coverage in 2008 and beyond through Nerdage.

Matt and Greg are a riot on their comics podcast! Can’t wait to read more on this new blog.

Matt, what do you think the best comics storyline of 2007 was?

On the spot? If I had to say, I’d go with the ongoing “Death of Captain America” storyline and aftermath from Ed Brubaker’s “Captain America.”
