Thunder-Nuggets Pre-game Notes
* Russell Westbrook has won Western Conference Rookie of the Month honors for December. Westbrook started all 15 games and averaged 15.5 points, 5.1 assists and 5.1 rebounds in 15 games. He set a career-high in points twice in the month with 30 against Miami on Dec. 6 and bested that mark with 31 against Phoenix on Dec. 29. He also set a career-high in assists with 11 agaisnt Cleveland on Dec. 21 and steals with five on Dec. 31 against Golden State.
* Jeff Green is suffering from swelling and discomfort in his left elbow but says he’s fine. He said most of the swelling has gone away but wore a pad over his elbow during this morning’s shootaround and might during the games.
* Nick Collison (thumb) and Kyle Weaver (ankle) are out tonight.
* Joe Smith (knee) is a game-time decision.
* Nenad Krstic will not play tonight, and it’s unlikely he’ll play Tuesday against New York or Wednesday against Minnesota. It looks like the earliest he’ll play is Firday against Houston or next Saturday at Chicago. It would be a pretty interesting storyline if he doesn’t make his debut until Monday, Jan. 12 when the Thunder travels to New Jersey, where Krstic spent his first four NBA seasons with the Nets.
* Expect Desmond Mason to start on Nuggets leading scorer Carmelo Anthony.
* Denver is just 2-4 in its past six road games, and the Nuggets are giving up 107.1 points in those contests. So we could witness another shootout between these two franchises tonight.
