If I were one of the Seattle Sonics, I would NOT be proud to be playing for okieville, especially having to wear jerseys with an UGLY logo that a kindergarten probably came up with. I bet the rest of the NBA franchise and players are laughing their as—– off and feeling sorry for the Seattle Sonics at the same time. What’s with the “sunset”? This is the NBA, NOT the WNBA! OKC have the money (probably okies’ tax money) to purchase a NBA team just so they can label their city “big city”, but they do NOT have the money to clean up all kinds of trash that make the whole city and it’s surrounding city look so ghetto, repair horrible roads full of holes, go business to business making hundreds of thousands to millions by employing illegals so they can be deported, sidewalks and bike trails in every neighborhood so people will exercise and not be grossly obessed, and the list goes on. The Oklahoma City Thunder is not all that bad. The team and the town can be known as Thunder City and the alternate nickname can be the Thunder City Dunkadelics for the team if they play an up-tempo style that showcases alot of fast-breaks and highlight dunks like the Phoenix Suns or Golden State Warriors.

The new Okc Thunder Logo SUCKS!! I will still go to the games, but as far as wearing clothing with that horrible Logo, i will not! and im really disappointed, i was wanting to sport the gear…. but what do you expect from okc. big league sucky logo!

Some interesting comments. Whether you like the logo or not fans are buying merchandise in record numbers. (See our story in Friday’s paper). The sky blue back drop gives the logo a better presence than what is pictured on the basketball on this blog.
If you dissect pro nicknames some are pretty goofy. Just looking at MLB teams, nicknames range from harmless birds(Cardinals, Orioles, Bluejays), to the color of your socks (Red Sox, White Sox) to the Cubs.
Baby Bears? You kidding me?
Do you think people in Chicago more than 100 years ago whined about, “We’re named after baby bears? The logo looks like something you would see in a cartoon!”
A century later it’s one of the most famous nicknames and logos in all of sports.
It appears nearly every game in the Ford Center this season will be a sellout. Bottom line is everyone taking shots at Oklahoma City and its nickname will just have to accept the fact the NBA most likely will be a huge success in Oklahoma.
Whether GM Sam Presti and team officials can build a winning team remains to be seen. But early reports on Presti also have been optimistic from analysts around the country.
It will be interesting to see how this franchise is perceived nationwide two or three years from now.

anyway, no one has mentioned that this name could be a LOT worse. if you think you don’t like ‘thunder’ as a name (which i really don’t), imagine living in orlando in 1989. you wait for your new nba team to announce the name, and it’s ‘magic.’ that is the fruitiest name in pro sports. thunder is a noise, but magic? that’s a fictional, abstract concept. so before you want to call thunder the worst name out there, look at what is out there.

and as far as the logo, logos can change. there’s plenty of teams who’ve changed their logos.

The logo is ugly as sin. A ten year old could design a better logo with their eyes closed. I am embarrassed as an oklahoma that this is our national NBA identity. UGH.

I don’t know what all the fuss is about. Thunder is a great name. The logo looks great and the colors are awesome too. The more I see the more I love.

The sky blue is not a good color. Who wears sky blue seriously. The logo is OK on a white shirt but on a skyblue one it looks horrible. I hope I like the what the jerseys look like because as of right now i wouldn’t buy that sh#%.

Well lets hope they change the logo mr.donuteyes . The name is cool, and i’ve never had a problem with the name. I’ve seen better designs for the logo. That design that they have now looks so feminine and gay and so WNBA’ish.

There is a lot of great looking merch out there for the thunder not just the baby blue stuff. Lighten up people this team will be a success oklahoma fans are great fans and loyal. the hornets got a little taste of that and now imagine how motivted the team will be when they play to a packed house every night. we will not be the laughing stock of the nba like everyone is saying, we will be like the diamonds in the middle of nowhere, kinda like OU. I am very proud to say i am a season ticket holder and have already purchased a number of different items to support the team and look forward to buying more things in the future as the team settles in.

Please tell me who designed this logo. Come on OKC you are better than this, this is an embarrassment to the league and the city. All i know is someone made thousands of dollars for making a design I could have made when I was in the third grade, ridiculous.

(”prejudice rederick”) and the only person talking about racism right now is you. no one cares about race with regards to the nba, the only thing people care about is money. okc obviously has more money, or at least people willing to spend it, because we have the team. if tulsa is bigger than san antonio, and just as cool as okc, where’s tulsa’s nba team?

and one more thing: stop crying about the type (race) of artists that are playing the bok center. lil wayne will be there on the 19th. and they can only book who’s touring. kanye’s playing europe, snoop’s in austrailia, and jay-z’s doing one show in los angeles. that is one problem with hip-hop and r&b. not enough touring compared to what rock and country bands do. in the top 50 concert tours on pollstar.com, none of them are hip-hop acts. (kid rock is not hip-hop.) a band like metallica plays hundreds of shows a year, jay-z does two. that’s why not many rappers are playing tulsa, they’re not playing anywhere. it is not hidden racism. that is ridiculous to say.
