It's ok, DM, if you want to be the prince of spin for the Thunder/Bison/Wind/Energy/Marshalls (with two L's?). If that's what you are going to be, who is going to be the fair, balanced and unbiased journalist that we can count on to give it to us straight. Its great that the team is here, but KD playing pickup ball in a meaningless tourney where any thug could have taken a shot is bush. Where else has that happened around the league? Hmm. Nowhere. I can't believe that you don't think Clay and Sam were beside themselves when they heard and I can't believe you didn't ask the question as to whether or not KD cleared it with PJ before he did it.

(CG, go check this out. And I didn't say Clay and Sam were pleased. I'm sure they both cringed when they heard the news. Even his mom apparently didn't want him to risk injury by playing in the thing this time last year. But my point still stands. If an injury is going to happen, it's going to happen. But as far as your question of where else it happens around the league. It's a lot more common than you know. A lot more common. -DM-)

preach DM. i'd rather him (theorhetically) hurt himself playing basketball than riding a motorcycle, pogo stick, etc. is there anything in his contract about injuries outside of NBA activities? remember a few years ago when the yankees voided aaron boone's contract because he blew out his knee in a pick-up basketball game? that would suck.

I'm sure the brass are thrilled to know that the most important asset of the franchise (both financially and operationally) is risking injury so that he can show off his goods in a streetball match. Its ridiculous and I will have a hard time believing that Clay & Sam are happy about it, even if they don't criticize publicly.
You know, it would be nice for DM to show a little critical thinking on this blog. Its nuts for KD to not be working on his basketball Jones under team supervision in a controlled environment as opposed to on the street somewhere where some jacka** might see a reason to take a shot at the big NBA superstar. Reminds of Greg Oden getting caught by his team playing some pick up ball at a gym a few months ago. Pritchard and Allen were equally dismayed by that move and took steps to ensure that it wouldn't happen again.

(CG, I suppose the Clippers' management should be mad at themselves for Elton Brand rupturing his Achilles' tendon while playing teammate Chris Kaman in the team's "controlled environment" that is the practice facility? Or maybe Coach K should be kicking himself for LeBron James spraining his ankle yesterday when he stepped on KD's foot in practice? After all, that was Team USA's "controlled environment." Injuries happen, dude. Players will tell you they're at a greater risk of injury when trying to not get hurt rather than just going all out and playing the game they love. Show a little critical thinking and understand that if Durant is going to get hurt there's not a thing he or the team can do about it no matter when or where he plays. -DM-)

I give Ed credit. It's hard enough to maintain a temper tantrum for a few hours , let alone several months! Keep it up Ed! I wish the Oklahoman would just send him an email notification when it publishes something NBA-related. It would save him having to check the Oklahoman website several times each day. Never give up Ed!!! You can dooo eeeet!
