OKC signs C.J. Miles to offer sheet
Oklahoma City has signed Utah guard C.J. Miles to an offer sheet, according to a league source with knowledge of the team’s negotiations.
The terms of the deal remain unclear, but the offer is expected to start at more than the $1.2 million Miles was set to earn with Utah next season. Because Miles is a restricted free agent, the Jazz will have seven days to match the offer sheet for the 6-foot-6, 220-pounder.
Miles, 21, is entering his fourth season after declaring for the draft out of high school in 2005. The former 34th overall pick has career averages of 4.0 points, 1.3 rebounds and 0.8 assists in 120 games, 29 as a starter.
Known as a perimeter shooting threat, Miles is a career 32.6-percent shooter from behind the 3-point line and holds a career high of 29 points.
If the Jazz decline to match Oklahoma City’s offer for Miles, he would join Kevin Durant, Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook as the team’s building blocks for the future.

Another piece to the puzzle….
“Miles signed a four-year, $15 million contract Friday with Oklahoma City, according to sources. Utah will have seven days to decide about matching the offer sheet and keeping the restricted free-agent guard.
“We received an offer sheet but we really haven’t had a chance to analyze the contract,” Jazz general manager Kevin O’Connor said. “So we’ll wait and see what we’ve got and make a decision based on what’s the best thing for the Jazz.”
The Jazz will have to take into account the luxury-tax implications of matching the offer, especially with young guards Ronnie Brewer and Morris Almond already on their roster. Miles averaged 5.0 points and played in 60 games last season.
Miles would be able to compete for a starting job with the newly relocated Oklahoma City team, which went 20-62 last season in Seattle but is building around top draft picks Kevin Durant, Jeff Green and Russell Westbrook.
“I’d be excited for C.J.,” Deron Williams said. “I want him back here in the baddest way. I think he can be a great player for us if he gets the opportunity. I don’t think he’s ever been really given an opportunity to come in and prove himself.”
Troy Weaver, who spent four years as the Jazz’s director of player personnel and head scout, left in May to become Oklahoma City’s assistant general manager. Although Weaver liked Miles, Oklahoma City general manager Sam Presti was said to have driven the deal.”…..
Has anyone heard anything on DeVon Hardin? I haven’t seen in the paper where he has sign with OKC yet. Is there a problem with his signing or does it just take awhile for a 2nd to sign? Just curious if anyone knew the story.
(Paul, I asked Sam Presti that very question a week and a half ago. I’ll post his answer for you. -DM-)
DM- Thanks, I’ll be looking for it…… I guess that’s why they held him out of summer camp in Orlando.

I’m glad to finally hear OKC making some adjustments during the off season. I’m curious as to how they would play Miles. He seems to be another shooting guard/small foward type player similar to Durant. I not sure how good Green is at the 4, but I can see Westbrook, Miles, Durant, and Green playing 1 – 4.
