Would You Pay $3 A Month For Ambulance Service?

Would you pay $3 a month through your monthly electric bill for ambulance service?
The Edmond City Council is looking into funding emergency ambulance service by adding an additional $3 on our electric bill.
Tulsa already has such a program in place and Oklahoma City is set to roll out one in October.
As our baby boomers grow older, the need for this service is bound to increase and require expansion at some point.

A Look At Last Week’s Edmond Headlines

Here’s a look back at some of this week’s Edmond news.

The University of Central Oklahoma’s Academy of Contemporary Music  had its grand opening Wednesday. ACM@UCO’s initial semester begins Monday, offering hands-on learning in the performance, production and business sides of the music industry.

I heard of one School of Rock  that offers a graduate course in how to trash a hotel room.

Edmond City Council  members unanimously approved a gun and archery range at the Shoppes at the Piazza shopping center, 1472 N Kelly.

Kelli from Edmond commented on NewsOk.com . “It never hurts to have gun safety training even if you don’t have your own gun. I think it will be great for Edmond, and I look forward to taking my concealed carry class and then be a pistol-packing momma.”

My wife said I could take the concealed carry course only if I promise to keep just one bullet in my shirt pocket.

The Edmond School Board  approved plans for tennis  courts at four of the district’s middle schools.

I think this is a good idea. Middle school students are at the age when they begin to have thoughts of love-40.

Edmond schools are back in session Tuesday and that means speed limits  in school zones will be strictly enforced.

After a three-month break from not seeing the flashing lights, drivers need to remember to slow down and watch out for children. Be sure to pay attention to school buses , and do not pass them no matter which direction you are going when they are stopped and their lights are flashing.

Gun Range Coming To Edmond

Well, son of a gun.

Edmond  City Council approved a gun/archery range to open for business at 1472 N Kelly. Attorney Randel Shadid, representing owner Shawn Forth, said it will be the only climate-controlled indoor gun range in Oklahoma County.   I was at the meeting and no one was there to argue against the range. No one.

So by the deafening silence does that mean consent from the public?

I don’t have a feeling for what Edmond residents think about the Second Amendment  right to bear arms.

I don’t know if that last sentence even stirs our fine folks to debate what the framers of the Constitution intended.

What will a gun range mean to Edmond? Will we suddenly have a flood of pistol-packing mommas and lines out the door for concealed carry licenses ?

I don’t have any idea, which is why I’m asking for your thoughts.

Maybe classes and demonstrating to them I can show the respect and responsibility of a firearm will change their minds.

What do you think?
