I rarely get a sidestitch, but I’m pretty sure if I did this run, I would. Then I’d probably throw up. Then I’d probably die. (Those last two parts might actually happen when I run the half marathon. Fingers crossed, though!) Here’s everything you’d ever want to know about the inaguaral OKC Hungry Man.

OKC Hungryman

Saturday, May 21

10 a.m.

The 1st annual OKC Hungryman is Oklahoma City’s first and only eat then run relay competition. This 10k four person relay event will challenge the savviest runners and fiercest of eaters. 100% of the proceeds benefit Neighborhood Services Organization.

Location: Regatta Park on the Oklahoma River

Benefitting: Neighborhood Services Organization

Sponsors: TBD

Format: 10k run/eat relay

Cost: $215 per team. Contestants are encouraged to raise more money and recruit

HOW IT WORKS

The 10K is divided into 4 equal legs. Contestants at each leg will have to eat a pre-determined portion of food, then run their leg. Once they have completed the leg they will then tag their teammate and then he/she will eat another portion of food , then run their leg. This pattern will continue through all 4 legs. The team with the best time will be crowned as the 2011 OKC Hungryman champion and have bragging rights for at least 11 months or so.

This event is awesome and 100% of the proceeds benefit NSO. Teams are encouraged to get crazy! Name your team, dress your team up goofy or have a matching t-shirt, support your company or wear a dress! The point is to have fun and enjoy being a part of this unique race experience. Additional prizes will be awarded for teams that bring the funny.

You are invited to Oklahoma City’s first ever eat-then-run relay race to benefit Neighborhood Services Organization, which provides housing, health services and monetary assistance to OKC’s poor and homeless. OKC Hungryman will take place May 21 at Regatta Park and will feature food from restaurants including Iguana Mexican Grill, Kaiser’s American Bistro, Prairie Thunder Baking Co. and Sara Sara Cupcake.

We are currently seeking sponsors, volunteers and teams of four to register to run. Please join us for this unique and fun event for a great cause!
