Mashable reports that Twitter, which launched in 2006, is now allowing users to download every tweet they’ve ever created. Twitter CEO Dick Costolo has made promises that we would see this by the end of 2012. Looks like he really meant the end. There’s only two weeks to go until the new year.

Perk up Flickr fans. The company announced today it’s releasing a new iOS app for shooting, sharing and discovering photos. And it’s actually pretty impressive.

Just like our Flickr site, you can upload unlimited photos from your camera roll, add your photos to groups and sets, add a venue from Foursquare and tag people. Best of all, the quality of the original photo is always preserved so you can continue to enjoy your photos for years to come.

You might be wondering why we are just now getting a Flickr app with all of these features. Well, Wired.com points out in a post about the app that Flickr basically missed the boat on mobile photo sharing due to its focus on integration instead of innovation when the company was bought by Yahoo! in 2005.

But it looks like Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer is switching some things up in the company. Forbes is even calling it “the best mobile photo app out there at the moment.”

Twitter doesn’t seem too heartbroken over its split with Instagram. In fact, the company is now offering photo filters and going steady with a new photo editing partner, Aviary.

The new photo editing features and filters were rolled out Monday afternoon.

Here’s a look at some of the new features from Twitter’s blog:

Filters. Apply one of eight filters, ranging from black & white to vintage, to add a new look and feel to your photos.

Take a bird’s-eye view. See how each filter would affect your photo in a single grid view, or swipe through looks to compare your options.

Frame the action. Crop and pinch to zoom in order to focus attention.

Auto-enhance. Make your photos pop with balanced light and colors by tapping the wand.

I haven’t been able to test this yet due to a delay in the upgrade to my phone, but I’d like to hear your thoughts about the features. Will you stop using Instagram? Why or why not?

Will buying concert tickets online soon get a little easier for Twitter users?

Mashable reports: Twitter users who own American Express cards can get their hands on concert tickets for rock band Soundgarden by syncing their cards and tweeting “#AmexSoundgardenTix.”

American Express’s handle, @AmexSync, will respond and give users an access code to purchase two pre-sale Soundgarden tickets. The deal is part of American Express’s discounts program that launched earlier this year.

According to the Mashable,

The program works like this: Cardholders go tosync.americanexpress.com/twitter to sync their card with their Twitter account. Then, when they tweet various “special offer” hashtags (like “#amexcoffee” for instance), couponless savings are loaded onto their cards.

The days of expanding Instagram photos in your Twitter timeline are now over. (OK, maybe that was a little bit dramatic.) Or, at least they are for the time being. (Better?)

There has been an influx of media reports that the two companies aren’t getting along. Well, it’s official. Instagram completed its disabling of photo integration with Twitter Sunday.

Here’s more on this from a Twitter blog post:

As a result, photos are no longer appearing in Tweets or user photo galleries. While tweeting links to Instagram photos is still possible, you can no longer view the photos on Twitter, as was previously the case. 

When you share an Instagram photo on Twitter it will now only appear as a link, taking you back to the photo-filtering site/app.

If you miss this feature on Twitter, you’re in luck. There seems to be a quick solution.

If you sign up for an account on IFTTT, you can create a hashtag that will allow you to post the full photo on Twitter. Just be sure to use the hashtag you created in the cutline of the photo on Instagram. It’s probably not the best solution, but it works.

Some say a picture is worth a thousand words. How about a thousand tweets?

Looks that way.

A new report released Friday shows that Instagram has taken the lead in mobile engagement, topping Twitter for the first time.

According to ComScore, “Instagram had an average of 7.3 million U.S. smartphone users accessing the application every day” in August compared to “Twitter’s 6.87 million U.S. smartphone users accessing the app every day.”

One reason for this could be because some of the most active users on Twitter access the site on desktop, whereas Instagram users are only on mobile devices.

A Manhattan judge ruled Monday that Twitter must hand over about three month’s worth of an Occupy Wall Street protester’s tweets, according to the Associated Press.

The AP reports that the case was filed after an Oct. 1 Occupy march on the Brooklyn Bridge, where more than 700 people were arrested for disregarding police orders and walking in the roadway. The district attorney’s office said the protester’s tweets could prove he was aware of police orders.

Reuters social media editor, Anthony De Rosa, tweeted a statement from Twitter, saying the company was disappointed in the ruling.
