Since Instagram updated its new intellectual property policy yesterday, I’ve been thinking more and more about switching to Flickr.
I’m not a huge Yahoo! fan, but I don’t like the idea of allowing my photos to be used in advertisements, especially without compensation. And I’m going to guess I’m not alone in that.

Mashable reports that Twitter, which launched in 2006, is now allowing users to download every tweet they’ve ever created. Twitter CEO Dick Costolo has made promises that we would see this by the end of 2012. Looks like he really meant the end. There’s only two weeks to go until the new year.

Perk up Flickr fans. The company announced today it’s releasing a new iOS app for shooting, sharing and discovering photos. And it’s actually pretty impressive.
Just like our Flickr site, you can upload unlimited photos from your camera roll, add your photos to groups and sets, add a venue from Foursquare and tag people. Best of all, the quality of the original photo is always preserved so you can continue to enjoy your photos for years to come.
You might be wondering why we are just now getting a Flickr app with all of these features. Well, Wired.com points out in a post about the app that Flickr basically missed the boat on mobile photo sharing due to its focus on integration instead of innovation when the company was bought by Yahoo! in 2005.
But it looks like Yahoo! CEO Marissa Mayer is switching some things up in the company. Forbes is even calling it “the best mobile photo app out there at the moment.”

Glenn Hubbard, economic adviser to Mitt Romney, was attacked during an interview with CNBC, but it wasn’t a hostile host that caught him off guard.
One of the network’s signs fell on him during the interview.
“That’s what happens when you criticize the welfare state,” he said.
The days of posting anonymous comments on NewsOK are no more. Digital Managing Editor Alan Herzberger announced Tuesday morning that the site will be switching to Facebook commenting.
“We care about the conversation. We care so much about the conversation that we are willing to give up quantity for quality. We expect this change to result in fewer comments on our site. But we also expect this change to encourage more users to participate. And we’re confident that we will see more constructive discourse about issues in Oklahoma.” – Herzberger
Twitter doesn’t seem too heartbroken over its split with Instagram. In fact, the company is now offering photo filters and going steady with a new photo editing partner, Aviary.
The new photo editing features and filters were rolled out Monday afternoon.
Here’s a look at some of the new features from Twitter’s blog:
Filters. Apply one of eight filters, ranging from black & white to vintage, to add a new look and feel to your photos.
Take a bird’s-eye view. See how each filter would affect your photo in a single grid view, or swipe through looks to compare your options.
Frame the action. Crop and pinch to zoom in order to focus attention.
Auto-enhance. Make your photos pop with balanced light and colors by tapping the wand.
I haven’t been able to test this yet due to a delay in the upgrade to my phone, but I’d like to hear your thoughts about the features. Will you stop using Instagram? Why or why not?

You probably know by now that Apple’s mapping system in iOS6 is horrendous. But outright dangerous?
Looks that way.
Australian police issued a warning Monday, urging motorists to be careful when relying on the mapping system. Apparently, it has directed several motorists off the beaten path and left them stranded in the Murray-Sunset National Park.
“Tests on the mapping system by police confirm the mapping systems lists Mildura in the middle of the Murray Sunset National Park, approximately 70km away from the actual location of Mildura. Police are extremely concerned as there is no water supply within the Park and temperatures can reach as high as 46 degrees, making this a potentially life threatening issue.” - Mildura Police
Police said some people have been stranded at the park for up to 24 hours without food or water. Mildura officers said they have contacted Apple in relation to the issue.
“Anyone travelling to Mildura or other locations within Victoria should rely on other forms of mapping until this matter is rectified.”
Here’s another tip. Use a different mapping service if you’re taking a trip to Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. I think the picture above speaks for itself.
Will buying concert tickets online soon get a little easier for Twitter users?
Mashable reports: Twitter users who own American Express cards can get their hands on concert tickets for rock band Soundgarden by syncing their cards and tweeting “#AmexSoundgardenTix.”
American Express’s handle, @AmexSync, will respond and give users an access code to purchase two pre-sale Soundgarden tickets. The deal is part of American Express’s discounts program that launched earlier this year.
According to the Mashable,
The program works like this: Cardholders go tosync.americanexpress.com/twitter to sync their card with their Twitter account. Then, when they tweet various “special offer” hashtags (like “#amexcoffee” for instance), couponless savings are loaded onto their cards.
