‘Twilight’ LOL of the day: Woman plans on marrying Edward Cullen cardboard cutout in the name of ‘art’

Lauren Adkins and her husband-to-be, a cardboard cutout of Edward Cullen.

Ask five people to describe “art” and you’ll get five different definitions. That’s part of the beauty of the medium, is that it can mean so much and such different things to different people. But, at what point do we just roll our eyes and scoff at what some people consider to be art? Some are doing that very thing in response to one college student’s plans to marry a cardboard cutout of “Twilight’s” Edward Cullen, which she says she’s doing as a theatrical performance/art piece.

Maybe Lauren Adkins is hoping to comment on the craziness surrounding the “Twilight” movies, books, and its fans. There is something to be said about middle-aged women standing in theater lines for hours just to hoot and holler when Robert Pattinson and Taylor Lautner go shirtless. Marrying a cardboard cutout, though? I guess I can see the hilarity behind it all.

According to WMCTV, Adkins is doing this to challenge stereotypes:

Adkins said Edward Cullen represents an ideal many girls and women want of a protector. The character is inhumanly handsome, supportive, and possessive.

All right. Whatever floats your artsy boat.
