Collider: Matthew Vaughn might be ‘Star Wars: Episode VII’ director

Collider just posted a jucy rumor about who could be directing the seventh episode of the “Star Wars” franchise: Matthew Vaughn, who also directed “X-Man: First Class,” “Stardust” and “Kick-Ass.”

Over the past seven years, Collider’s track record has been pretty good.  The reason is, before we run any “scoop,” we always make sure to double source it so we know the information is accurate. …

Now that I’ve warned you this is just a “rumor”….

I’m hearing that Matthew Vaughn is in talks with Lucasfilm to helm Star Wars: Episode VII. My sources tell me this is the main reason he dropped out of the X-Men sequel (which Bryan Singer is now directing).

Head over to Collider for their thoughts on this.

My thoughts: I’m lukewarm to the idea (heh, lukewarm). I like what Vaughn did with the “X-Men” property, and “Kick-Ass” was a solid movie, too. “Stardust” wasn’t my cup of tea but it was well made, so all of this tells me Vaughn can handle special effects-laden films while also handling the adventure side of the story.

If this does turn out to be true, I don’t think I’ll be mumbling and grumbling. I mean, he can’t do much worse than George Lucas, right?

Don’t be a sour little fanboy. Without Lucas, you wouldn’t even have Star Wars so quit bitching about his vision for his own creation.

Lucas deserves praise and criticism. Sure, he gave us the “Star Wars” universe, but he’s not the best director or writer to do something with it.

Don’t be so hostile next time. It’s unbecoming of you.
