‘Avengers’ mania: Early buzz, new images, and earning projections

“The Avengers” is coming out next month, and that means we’re seeing tons of cross-promotions, earning projections, new images from the movie and, of course, early buzz from those who have seen the movie.
Those lucky enough to catch the early premiere of “The Avengers” had this to say on Twitter:
Avengers was awesome. Felt like Joss Whedon in all the right ways while still feeling like the best of Marvel. It’s going to be really huge.

Not a false note. Innovative. BRUTAL. And goddamn funny. Hype = believe it. #Avengers

The Avengers – Epic. EPIC! Everyone fights everyone, but it does deliver. Marvel’s movies get better every single one. Hulk! HULK!!

Full Avengers review embargoed and not gonna go into huge details. But… Ruffalo is terrific as Bruce Banner. Makes the role his, big time.

Absolutely loved THE AVENGERS. Was smiling from beginning to end. If you’re a Marvel fan you’re going to lose your shit in the theater.

AVENGERS is good enough to make me forgive IRON MAN 2.

So that was AMAZING. Like, double plus awesome. Thank you Joss Whedon for giving us all the #Avengers movie we deserve. #OnlyYou

So, it seems “Avengers” is pretty rad.
To further whet your appetite, StitchKingdom has a bunch of new stills from the movie, some of which are below (click to enlarge):
Now, about the money…
Deadline is reporting early returns indicate “Avengers” will be swimming in the dough come opening weekend. That’s no surprise, though I think the
$125 million estimate is a hair low. I’m guessing $150 million is more probable.
Meanwhile, Filmaphobia put together an interesting and in-depth piece on how much money “Avengers” will need to make in order for it to be a financial success, and in order for it to garner a sequel:
Sensible forecast: $665 million
The Pessimist: $450 million
The Optimist: $850 million
Possibility of sequel: Highly likelyThe Next Billion Dollar Movie Chances: 25%
Hit or Miss: Definite Hit
I’ll be catching it opening weekend. Where will you be?
