‘The Walking Dead’ tidbits: Merle confirmed to return, Michonne cast, ‘Calvin and Hobbes’ mashup

“The Walking Dead” just wrapped its second season, and tons of news tidbits are coming out about what we can expect in season three.

Merle Dixon is returning in season three.
Michael Rooker is confirmed to be returning as Merle Dixon, Daryl‘s brother who we last saw (alive) in season one. You might recall Merle as being the racist crazy guy the group handcuffed to the top a building in downtown Atlanta. When the group went up to free him, so he could escape a horde of zombies heading his way, they found Merle’s hand but no Merle — he had severed his hand so he could escape.
My guess is Merle will be rolling with The Governor‘s group. Merle seems like he’d fit right in. There was once fan speculation that Merle would be The Governor himself, but that was put to rest when David Morrissey was cast recently.

Danai Gurira will portray Michonne in season three.
The role of Michonne also has been cast for the third season. The sword-wielding take-no-shit heroine will be portrayed by Danai Gurira, of “Treme” fame. Michonne made her first appearance in the final minutes of season two’s finale, saving an exhausted Andrea from some zombies.
And for the final tidbit, we have these cute/cool/funny “Calving and Hobbes”-”Walking Dead” mashup:
