Starz to say ‘adios’ to Netflix streaming March 1

This has been a long time coming, but beginning March 1, Starz’s television shows and films will no longer be available for streaming on Netflix. That amounts to around 800 titles that we’ll see stripped from the catalog.

Le sigh.

Basically, the breakdown happened when Starz and Netflix couldn’t agree on a restructured pricing system. Starz wanted Netflix to go to a tiered system. Around the middle of last year, deals broke down and Starz announced they’d be pulling out of the relationship in 2012. Well, 2012 is here, and in two days, you can say goodbye to “Tangled” and the fan-favorite show “Party Down.”

Eight hundred titles is a lot. I’m not sure how large Netflix’s catalog is, though. And I’m quite certain Netflix can’t wait until next year, when their deal with Dreamworks begins.
