Tennessee politician: ‘Modern Family’ will teach kids about ‘unnatural’ nature of homosexuals

The best family to grace television sets in a long time.
Wowzas.
There’s an interesting story making the rounds on the Internet, about a Tennessee representative who warned parents of the dangers of the award-winning hit television show “Modern Family,” because the show features a gay couple. And, in result, might teach children about homosexuality, or, worse, turn kids gay.

We can't make this crap up.
Right now, Tennessee has a bill going through the motions called the “Don’t Say Gay” bill. What this bill would do is prevent elementary and middle-school teachers from teaching about homosexuality in schools. Only “natural human reproduction science” would be allowed, which basically is calling all of the world’s homosexuals “unnatural.”
During a recent hearing on the bill, a Nashville preacher mentioned that, even though children might not learn about homosexuality in schools, they could learn about it by watching “Modern Family.” To which Rep. Joey Hensley (R) replied:
“I don’t think Modern Family is appropriate for children to watch.”
All because Rep. Hensley doesn’t want children to learn there are homosexuals in the world. Or, heaven forbid, “turn” gay.
“Modern Family” star Jesse Tyler Ferguson, who plays Mitchell Pritchett, one-half of the show’s gay couple, took to Twitter to say what he thought of all this:
“Dear Gay kids in Tennessee, I hope u know there is a huge world beyond the few idiots in your state senate who are saying: ‘Don’t Say Gay’.”
And to think, Rep. Hensley is a physician! A doctor! A medical doctor! That’s a scarier thought than kids learning about family values from a popular sitcom.
“Modern Family” is one of my favorite television shows currently on air. It’s heartwarming and brilliantly acted. And, it’s very down-to-earth and honest in how it presents issues families face.
Obviously not everyone sees it that way, and people are entitled to their opinions.

Except morons.

Modern Family is one of the best shows on television. Let me get this straight (no pun intended), if watching Modern Family can make someone gay, then watching Top Chef should turn us into creators of fine food. Or if we watch Grey’s Anatomy, we’ll be doctors. How about Weeds? Will that makes us all drug dealers? Freaking narrow minded idiot! Won’t surprise me a bit when his homosexual affair is revealed in a vicious sex scandal in a few years!
Great post you linked me to. And I agree, “Modern Family” is a classic in the making.
Thanks for sharing!
Amen, Richard! Believe me, my parents never said “gay” when I was growing up, and I wasn’t exposed to anything that would have influenced me to “turn” that way. Either you are or you aren’t and it’s pretty much up to nature. I did a post on the science of sexual orientation that your readers may be interested in:

By the way, I think “Modern Family” is one of the best-written sitcoms have ever watched. How they use all of those characters and still manage to produce an individual show under a unifying theme is amazing.
Thanks for the post!
